Oban Baptist Church

Restored Lives - Revived Church - Renewed Community

Our Vision and Mission

Text for the Year: Jeremiah 29v5-7

'Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit.  Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters - that you may be increased there, and not diminished.  And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace.'

As part of the network of Baptist Churches across Scotland, we are committed to being Intentionally Relational, Unashamedly Missional and Creatively Rooted.  How are these principles demonstrated here within the life of Oban Baptist Church?

Intentionally Relational:  We choose to be purposeful and positive in our engagement with each other, with local churches and with the community, so as to reflect the love and truth of God in all that we do.

Unashamedly Missional:  We are actively engaged in both local, national and international expressions of mission, as part of the call of God to take the gospel of Jesus Christ out into the world (Matthew 28) and for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Creatively Rooted:  We treasure the blessing of being able to serve our community, with its rich history and vibrancy.  We understand that God has a vision for Oban and surrounding areas, which is worked out in a manner specific to our own culture and community.

We are also passionate about playing our part in building bridges across the denominations, in order that the local community can see the evidence

of the Scripture that states:

"By this all will know that you are My disciples,

if you have love for one another."

(John 13v35)
